Team OneVerse members are mostly runners, so in honor of the Olympics, as athletes win in distance events (5000 meters and up), I want to recognize them. More importantly, I want to take the opportunity to share the Bible translation need in that country.
Starting off, Tirunesh Dibaba from Ethiopia won the women’s 10,000 meter race. (More commonly known us road runners as the 10k, 6.2 miles.) The 27-year-old won by more than 5 seconds. She won in 30:20.75. For some perspective, that’s a 4 minute, 52 second mile pace! Yikes!
So how can you pray for Ethiopia? Three language groups, the Gamo, Gofa, and Dawro groups, comprise the Ethiopian cluster of over 1.2 million people. The New Testament and The Jesus Film are finished, but the Old Testament translation is still in process. Pray for the translators work and for the training for two Ethiopian translation consultants.
